Big group fun without the usual group-trip stress

Williams is one of Arizona’s best family weekend trips. With cooler weather, Route 66 charm, wildlife encounters, train rides, and outdoor adventures, there’s something for every age.

We visited with 6 adults and 2 kids, and it ended up being one of the easiest group trips we’ve planned. Everything is close together, affordable, and simple to navigate, making it perfect for families who want fun without a complicated itinerary.

The kids loved feeding animals at the Deer Farm, spotting wildlife at Bearizona, and riding the Canyon Coaster. Meanwhile, the adults enjoyed exploring downtown Williams, trying local restaurants, and escaping the Arizona heat.

What surprised us most was how much we fit into a single weekend without feeling rushed. Most attractions are just minutes apart, parking is easy, and the entire town has a relaxed pace that’s hard to find at bigger tourist destinations.

Whether you’re looking for a quick road trip, a multi-generational family getaway, or an affordable Arizona vacation, Williams is one of those places that manages to keep everyone happy.

WHY WE LOVED IT

The Airbnb Made the Trip

This is one of those rare places where the house isn’t just where you stay, it’s the reason the trip is so good.

If you’re traveling with a group or kids, this Airbnb makes everything easier from the second you arrive.

We had 6 adults + 2 kids, and it never once felt crowded.

• Multiple bedrooms = everyone has their own space
• Separate hangout areas = no one is on top of each other
• Big open kitchen + living room = easy group meals and time together

This matters more than you think.

Outdoor Space

This is where this place really stands out.

• Tons of open land for kids to run and play
• Space for riding dirt bikes and exploring
• Fire pit to roast marshmallows and make s’mores

One of the kids in our group learned how to ride a dirt bike here, and it instantly became one of those core memories from the trip.

👉 You don’t need to constantly plan activities because the fun is already there.

Location is Perfect

You’re close to everything, but still feel tucked away:

• Minutes from Bearizona Wildlife Park
• Quick drive to downtown Williams, Arizona
• Easy access to the Grand Canyon South Rim

👉 You get convenience without losing that peaceful getaway feeling.

Dog-Friendly

If you travel with your dog, this is a huge win.

• Plenty of space for them to roam
• Easy, stress-free setup
• Doesn’t feel restrictive

Our Honest Review

We loved staying here. Like, actually loved it. This place made the trip.

It worked so well for our group, but what really stood out was how perfect it was for the kids. The dirt bike track alone was a game changer. They were out there riding, learning, and entertaining themselves for hours, which gave the adults time to relax without constantly needing to plan the next thing.

The outdoor space is what really makes this place special. There’s so much room to run, play, and just be outside. It has that rare balance of feeling fun for kids while still being peaceful for adults. Everyone had their own space, and it never felt crowded, even with a full group.

Inside, the home was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Nothing felt overcomplicated or high-maintenance—it just worked. And the location is such a win. Close enough to everything you want to do around Williams, but still quiet enough to feel like a true getaway.

This is one of those places that makes your trip better because you don’t feel like you constantly have to leave to keep everyone entertained.

👉 We would 100% stay here again and highly recommend it for families or group trips.

💡 Mom Tip: Save money fast by booking a property that keeps kids entertained onsite. Less driving, fewer paid activities, and way more time actually enjoying your vacation.

Grocery Run

If there is one tip that makes the biggest difference on this trip, it’s this: do a grocery run immediately after check-in. I know it’s tempting to settle in first or grab takeout and figure it out later, but having your food situation handled right away makes the entire trip smoother and so much cheaper.

Before you leave home, ask everyone in your group what they absolutely want. Favorite drinks, coffee, breakfast basics, easy lunch items, kid snacks, marshmallows, sandwich stuff, paper goods, alcohol, and a few simple dinner ideas. Put it all into one shared list before the trip starts. That way you’re not making five separate store runs or forgetting the one thing you someone suddenly decides is essential.

Once you arrive, check into your Airbnb and send a smaller group to the store, not everyone needs to go (too many opinions). That’s exactly why you made the list ahead of time. We usually split up: half the group heads to the store while the other half stays back with the kids and starts unpacking. Stock up on easy breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and a few dinners. This setup works especially well for group trips because the cost gets split, making everything feel way more budget-friendly. Instead of eating out for every meal, you’ll have simple, ready-to-go options at the house for hungry kids, late naps, or those slower, more relaxed nights in.

This one habit also makes the trip feel more relaxed. Mornings are easier when breakfast is already in the kitchen. Afternoons go better when you can toss together lunch or hand out snacks before a short drive. And nights by the fire are sweeter when you are ready with some s’mores. It’s simple, but it saves money in a big way.

This is the easiest budget move on the whole trip, and it makes everything else feel more organized from day one.

Simple Williams Family Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival + Grocery Run

Check in. unpack. do the grocery run. make an easy dinner and let the kids explore outside.

After a travel day, the best thing you can do is keep expectations low. Check in, unpack the essentials, and let everyone settle into the house. We headed out for a grocery run right away so we had snacks, drinks, and easy meals ready for the rest of the trip.

Back at the Airbnb, we kept dinner simple with burgers, hot dogs, and mac and cheese before ending the night around the fire pit making s’mores. It was the perfect slow start and gave everyone a chance to relax before the adventures began.

Day 2: Dirt Bikes + Downtown Williams

Slow morning at the house, lunch at Cruiser’s Cafe 66, walk around Route 66, then head back for dinner and s’mores.

This was one of those vacation days that felt fun without being exhausting.

The kids spent the morning riding dirt bikes and exploring while the adults enjoyed a slower start. That’s one of the biggest advantages of staying somewhere with built-in activities. Not every day has to be scheduled.

For lunch, we headed into town and ate at Cruiser’s Cafe 66 before walking around downtown Williams. The Route 66 atmosphere is fun, easy to explore, and perfect for families. The kids were obsessed with the scorpion lollipops, which somehow became one of their favorite memories of the trip.

Later, we found a quiet backroad area where the kids could ride even more and ended up spotting wild turkeys wandering nearby.

Recommendation: Don’t overplan this day. The combination of dirt bikes, downtown Williams, and relaxing at the house creates the perfect balance.

Day 3: Wildlife Day

Bearizona in the morning. lunch/reset at the house, then Grand Canyon Deer Farm in the afternoon

If you’re visiting Williams with kids, this might be the best day of the entire trip.

We started at Bearizona early in the morning, which I highly recommend. The animals are more active, temperatures are cooler, and the park feels much less crowded.

The drive-through portion is what makes Bearizona so family-friendly. Kids get incredible animal encounters without long walks, excessive heat, or constant complaints about being tired. Afterwards, make sure you do the walk-through area too. The animal shows were surprisingly good and gave us a chance to stretch our legs.

After lunch and a reset back at the Airbnb, we headed to the Grand Canyon Deer Farm.

This completely exceeded expectations. The deer walk right up to you for food, and the experience feels far more interactive than we expected. Between the deer, zebras, miniature ponies, porcupines, and the famous Zonkey, the kids never stopped smiling.

Recommendation: Don’t skip the Deer Farm. We almost did, and it ended up being one of our favorite attractions.

Day 4/5: Bigger Adventure Day

Canyon Coaster, Grand Canyon South Rim, Raptor Ranch / Bedrock City, then dinner at Grand Canyon Brewing + Distillery.

This is the day for your biggest adventures.

We started at Canyon Coaster Adventure Park, and getting there earlier made a huge difference. The lines were shorter, temperatures were cooler, and we could enjoy more attractions before the crowds arrived.

The Canyon Coaster was easily the highlight. Since riders control their own speed, it’s fun for both thrill-seekers and more cautious family members. The snow tubing was another surprise favorite and did an excellent job wearing the kids out.

After lunch, we drove to the Grand Canyon South Rim. Seeing the canyon in person is every bit as impressive as people say it is. We even spotted a desert bighorn sheep right along the rim.

Recommendation: Bring water, wipes, and sunglasses when you leave the car. We learned this one the hard way.

On the drive back, we stopped at Raptor Ranch (Bedrock City), which ended up being one of the kids’ favorite attractions of the entire trip. Between the Flintstones-themed buildings, animal encounters, tricycle track, playgrounds, and giant open spaces, they could have stayed for hours.

We finished the day with dinner at Grand Canyon Brewing + Distillery. The arcade and pool tables kept the kids entertained while the adults relaxed, making it the perfect family-friendly dinner stop after a long day.

Our biggest takeaway: The reason this itinerary works so well is because every major attraction is close enough to return to the Airbnb for breaks. You never feel rushed, and you never have to choose between seeing something fun and keeping the kids happy. That’s what makes Williams such an easy family destination.

The kind of trip that feels easy, fun, and actually memorable

Some trips look great on paper but end up feeling like work.

Williams isn’t one of them.

Between the spacious Airbnb, short drives, family-friendly attractions, and slower pace, this is the kind of getaway where everyone actually enjoys themselves. Kids have room to play, adults get time to relax, and nobody spends the entire trip rushing from one activity to the next.

Some of our favorite memories weren’t the big attractions at all.

They were the simple moments: roasting marshmallows around the fire, watching the kids ride dirt bikes, spotting wildlife, and sitting outside under the stars.

If you’re looking for an affordable trip that feels special without being stressful, Williams is one of the easiest family getaways we’ve found.

Why It’s Worth It

Split lodging costs, easy attractions, built-in entertainment, and plenty of outdoor space make this feel like a much bigger vacation than the price tag suggests.

Best For

Families with young kids, grandparents, friend groups, dog owners, and anyone looking for a simple getaway that doesn’t require months of planning.

Mom-to-Mom Truth

When the kids are entertained, the adults can actually relax. And honestly, that’s what makes a vacation feel like a vacation.
